New fine art printing workshop with Tim Daly
Following the sell-out success of last month's fine art printing workshop, a second is now scheduled for the south of England, run by Ag technical contributor Tim Daly.

The course is jargon-free and provides expert advice on how to prepare your workstation, creative processing techniques and how to problem-solve poor quality output. This intensive weekend course offers expert tuition, plenty of hands-on activity and individual guidance to help you develop your own approach to digital photography. It is ideal for those who need to further their understanding and those who learn best in a small group environment.
Course content
Colour management basics: Setting up your workspace, using colour profiles, Photoshop colour settings.
Processing and preparing your files for output: Including raw file processing, contrast control, resolution.
Creating emphasis effects: Darkroom style tools for better burning in and holding back
Preview, proofing and prediction: Gamut control, soft proofing and printer software settings
Test printing: Working out the best settings for your ink, paper and printer combination.
Fine colour and contrast control: Removing colour casts, enhancing shadows and highlights, sharpening.
Printing on archival/cotton papers: Making gallery quality output.
Facilities
The course will be delivered on Apple computers equipped with Adobe Photoshop and a large format Epson 4000 inkjet printer.
About the tutor
The course is taught by Tim Daly, author of the best-selling Digital Printing Handbook and Digital Colour Printing Handbook (both published by Argentum) and a regular contributor to Ag magazine.
About the venue
Juniper Hall is situated in a quiet wooded valley in an unspoilt area of the chalk North Downs. It is a superb country house dating from the 17th century, and is run by the Field Studies Council. It is about 1km from Box Hill and only 40km from central London. Nearest BR stations are Box Hill & Westhumble and Dorking, and the centre is 10 mins from Junction 9 of the M25.
