Focus On Imaging 2010

Come and visit Ag magazine at Focus On Imaging, which opens this Sunday 7th March and runs untill Wednesday 10th at the NEC in Birmingham. As usual we're sharing a stand with our chums at Linhof and British Journal of Photography, Stand Q11, Hall 10. As well as saying hello, you could pick up the brand-new 2010 edition of my book How To Make & Publish A Photobook, plus we'll have plenty of back number alongside the latest issue of Ag. Deutsche Börse artists' talks

The Photographers' Gallery is staging a series of talks by the four shortlisted candidates for the annual Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. Running in strict alphabetical order, the talks begin with Anna Fox on 10 March. For dates and details click here.

Viewfinder Open Salon 2010

Viewfinder Gallery in Greenwich, London, is holding it third Open Salon from 25 February to 14 March. Anyone can enter a photograph to the show and there is a £10 entry fee to help support the gallery. If you can't make it there to drop off your picture, you can email the image file and for an additional £5 the gallery will print it out for you. Click here for full details.

Photographers' Place revived

The legendary Photographers' Place workshops, begun by Paul Hill and his wife Angela in the mid-70s and running for 20 years, are starting up again this April. The first will be held at Ilam Hall, Ashbourne, Derbyshire from 16-18 April and you can click here for full details and booking information. Although the darkrooms have now been replaced by digital editing kit, Paul Hill remains a course leader, along with Martin Shakeshaft and Nick Lockett.

Lensmodern Exposed

The Lensmodern collective, previously active mainly on the internet, is getting out from under its bushel to put on an exhibition and print sale next weekend. Plenty of big names among the line-up and the event, which will include discussion groups, is being held on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December from 12-6pm at Lensmodern’s headquarters: The Daylight Zone Studio, 43 Bellenden Road, Peckham, London SE15 5BB. Free Colour Management Seminar

Native Digital is hosting a free monitor and colour management seminar in London SW1 next Tuesday 24 November. There are still some places left and it sounds like a free colour management book is being handed out too. For details and to register just click here.

AOP Red Dot charity auction date

Keep the evening of 2 December free for the opportunity to pick up an early Christmas present in a good cause. The AOP's annual Red Dot auction will be held at its gallery, 81 Leonard Street, London EC2, in aid of the PhotoVoice charity, with bidding starting at just £40 for signed prints by Association members. The auction will be held between 6.00 and 9.30pm and there are more details here. An exhibition of the work runs at the gallery from 3 December until 14 January 2010.

Mark Edwards Hard Rain project presentation

We featured the powerful Hard Rain project, instigated by Mark Edwards of Still Pictures and inspired by the famouse Bob Dylan song, in Ag44 (click). Now anyone within striking distance of Trafalgar Square can see a presentation of it at St Martin-in-the-Fields on the evening of 16 November, 7.00-8.30pm, admission free. Impressions Gallery in York is offering free 20-minute portfolio review sessions with gallery staff on Sunday 25 October. Booking is essential and there is a £10 refundable deposit to make sure you turn up. For more details and to book click here.

Impressions calls for photobooks

Impressions Gallery in York is calling for independently published photobooks to be offered for sale during its Photography Book Fair Weekend, 24-25 October 2009.
